October 2008: Be sure to watch the two stars of ABCTV’s Two in the Top End, Tim Flannery and John Doyle, as they visit Mornington Wilderness Sanctuary in next week’s episode! The program features AWC’s Sarah Legge and other AWC staff talking to Tim and John about Gouldian Finches, fire management, and all things Mornington. The program screens on ABC at 8.00 pm on Tuesday, 14th October 2008.

With the recent acquisition of Marion Downs AWC now protects over 1.5 million acres of the central Kimberley, providing new hope for the region's threatened wildlife including iconic species such as the Gouldian Finch and the Northern Quoll. Mornington Wildlife Sanctuary has been recognised by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) – Australia as one of the Top 10 nature reserves of the last decade. Mornington’s visitor programs help to promote awareness of the plight of northern Australia’s biodiversity and demonstrates the potential for alternative land uses in the tropical savanna.

If you are more than an armchair traveller, you can follow in the footsteps of Two in the Top End and visit this spectacular nature reserve. All proceeds from the Mornington Wilderness Camp are dedicated to the conservation of wildlife in the Kimberley so your visit will also help save the region’s unique wildlife.
